Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal fatigue is an undiagnosed epidemic. The adrenal glands are pyramidal shaped organs sitting on top of the kidneys. They are responsible for secreting steroid hormones, such as cortisol, DHEA, aldosterone and adrenaline.

Adrenal fatigue is characterised by fatigue commonly in the afternoons and evenings followed by an increase in energy in the late evening, dizziness, weakness, and a decreased ability to handle stress. It is caused by weak adrenal gland function, which can lead to conditions such as chronic fatigue and under active thyroid if left untreated. Read more »

Amalgam

Amalgam Why We Choose Not To Use It

Amalgam What Is It?

A "silver" filling, or dental amalgam, is not a true alloy. Amalgams are made up of 50% or more mercury. The amalgam also consists of approximately 35% silver, 9% tin, 6% copper and a trace of zinc. More than 100 million mercury fillings are placed each year in the U.S. alone and here in Australia over 90% of dentists still use them for restoring posterior teeth. Read more »

Amalgam Fillings and Mercury

Amalgam and Mercury - What Science Shows

The health effects of elemental mercury from amalgam fillings are numerous and many studies and scientific evidence supports that mercury causes widespread and adverse health effects. Amalgam fillings have been well documented to be the number one source of exposure of mercury to most people, with exposure levels often exceeding Government health guidelines and the levels that cause adverse health effects. Esoteric Living

Many of the patients I see in my practice have chronic illnesses, depression, insomnia, and autoimmune conditions or simply have busy/stressful lifestyles or are low in energy and vitality. Often my patients ask how they can improve the way they feel and my answer usually consists of the common sense approach to take good care of yourself, eat fresh unprocessed foods, drink plenty of fluids, get a good nights sleep and remove/reduce stress and environmental toxins etc.

Fluoride in the Drinking Water

Every capital city in Australia, including Brisbane since the end of 2009, fluoridates its water supply in an attempt to reduce dental decay as do many European countries yet dental decay still continues to increase. Several countries that fluoridated their drinking supply have or are planning to cease its use as it is no longer cost effective nor is it producing the reduction in dental caries once expected.

Illness and Disease or Wellness and Vitality

Wellness these days does not mean the same as it did 20 to 30 years ago. Wellness now is about managing or living with our illness or condition. We are happy to tolerate or live with a sore back, stiff neck, frozen shoulder, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic fatigue etc because compared to someone who has cancer we believe we are better off. We accept a life that is devoid of vitality because our illness or condition is not terminal. Read more »

Immune System

The immune system is essential for good health it plays a vital role in protecting the body from the vast numbers of disease-causing organisms and other substances it comes into contact with. The role of the immune system is to distinguish between normal body cells and foreign or abnormal cells. Immune balance is the key as over activity leads to allergies and autoimmune diseases and under activity increases the risk of infections. The immune system is also vital for recognising and destroying cancer cells. Read more »

Iodine

Iodine is found in dairy products, seafood, kelp, eggs, some vegetables and iodised salt. It is important for essential hormone development in the human body. If you don’t have enough iodine in your diet, it can lead to an enlarged thyroid gland (goitre) or other iodine deficiency disorders. Iodine deficiency is the world’s leading cause of mental retardation in children. Read more »

Iodine and Thyroid Function

Without sufficient iodine, the thyroid gland is unable to make thyroid hormones in adequate amounts. Iodine deficiency can therefore lead to hypothyroidism and goitre formation (the thyroid enlarges in an attempt to make more thyroid hormone). Iodine deficiency also increases the incidence of autoimmune thyroid disease such as Hashimoto’s disease and Graves disease.  Some clinicians suspect the marked increase in the incidence of autoimmune thyroid disease is actually due to iodine deficiency.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy but it was not until the 16th century that people realized that certain fruits and vegetables could prevent or cure the disease. In 1928 vitamin C was isolated and shown to be the substance necessary to prevent and cure scurvy. In its pure form, vitamin C, which is also known as ascorbic acid, is a water soluble white powder.

What is Dental Healing?

Why is it that we say my broken arm has healed yet on the other hand say that the doctor cured my cancer, allergies, headaches etc.?
